• Some called CPAC “dead” with empty rooms during non-popular speakers, but Rick says it was good for a non-Trump event.

• Highlight: Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi (Shah’s son) spoke; room was packed, standing room only, overflow full.
• People waved American, Israeli, and Iranian flags; chanting “USA,” “Free Iran,” “Thank you Trump.”
• Rick felt the Holy Spirit strongly; believes Pahlavi could help transition Iran away from the mullahs and the Islamic Republic.

Day 5:  Esther’s Faith and the Great Reversal (Esther 5:1–6:14)

Introduction

After three days of fasting and prayer, Queen Esther risks her life by approaching King Ahasuerus uninvited. The king extends his golden scepter, offers her up to half his kingdom, and she wisely invites him and Haman to two banquets. Haman’s pride swells, but that same night the king cannot sleep, the royal chronicles are read, and Haman is forced to publicly honor the very man he planned to kill—Mordecai the Jew. Persian court protocol, the use of the golden scepter, royal banquets, and the keeping of detailed chronicles all match known practices from Xerxes’ era, confirmed by Herodotus and archaeological finds at Persepolis and Susa. These details once again show that the Book of Esther is rooted in real 5th-century BC Persian history, while God works invisibly behind every event.

Why this matters today

When facing powerful threats, prayerful courage can open doors no one expects. The spirit of Haman and Amalek still stirs division, deception, and hatred against Israel through media, politics, and influencers. Yet God grants favor to those who seek Him first and can reverse enemy plans overnight. We must oppose deep-state corruption in every nation (including Israel), reject antisemitism in all its forms, and stand boldly with God’s chosen people, trusting that He still positions and honors the faithful “for such a time as this.”

Section 1 – Scripture Reading & Analysis

Esther 5:1-14: On the third day Esther put on her royal robes and stood in the inner court of the king’s palace, in front of the king’s quarters, while the king was sitting on his royal throne inside the throne room opposite the entrance to the palace. And when the king saw Queen Esther standing in the court, she won favor in his sight, and he held out to Esther the golden scepter that was in his hand. Then Esther approached and touched the tip of the scepter. And the king said to her, “What is it, Queen Esther? What is your request? It shall be given you, even to the half of my kingdom.” And Esther said, “If it please the king, let the king and Haman come today to a feast that I have prepared for the king.” Then the king said, “Bring Haman quickly, so that we may do as Esther has asked.” So the king and Haman came to the feast that Esther had prepared. And as they were drinking wine after the feast, the king said to Esther, “What is your wish, Queen Esther? It shall be granted you. And what is your request? Even to the half of my kingdom, it shall be fulfilled.” And Esther said, “My wish and my request is: If I have found favor in the sight of the king, and if it please the king to grant my wish and fulfill my request, let the king and Haman come to the feast that I will prepare for them, and tomorrow I will do as the king has said.”

And Haman went out that day joyful and glad of heart. But when Haman saw Mordecai in the king’s gate, that he neither rose nor trembled before him, he was filled with wrath against Mordecai. Nevertheless, Haman restrained himself and went home, and he sent and brought his friends and his wife Zeresh. And Haman recounted to them the splendor of his riches, the number of his sons, all the promotions with which the king had honored him, and how he had advanced him above the officials and the servants of the king. Then Haman said, “Even Queen Esther let no one but me come with the king to the feast she prepared. And tomorrow also I am invited by her together with the king. Yet all this is worth nothing to me, so long as I see Mordecai the Jew sitting at the king’s gate.” Then his wife Zeresh and all his friends said to him, “Let a gallows fifty cubits high be made, and in the morning tell the king to have Mordecai hanged on it. Then go joyfully with the king to the feast.” This idea pleased Haman, and he had the gallows made.

Analysis: After fasting and prayer, Esther approaches the king and immediately wins favor. He holds out the golden scepter and offers her up to half his kingdom. She wisely invites him and Haman to banquets rather than rushing her request. Haman leaves the feast thrilled, but his joy turns to fury when Mordecai refuses to bow. At home he boasts of his wealth and power, yet admits it is worthless as long as Mordecai lives. His wife and friends urge him to build a seventy-five-foot gallows for Mordecai.

Summary: After three days of fasting and prayer, Queen Esther courageously stepped into the inner court wearing her royal robes, risking death to approach the king uninvited. To her amazement, the king extended his golden scepter in mercy, spared her life, and offered her anything she desired—even up to half his kingdom. With remarkable wisdom and patience, Esther did not rush to reveal the deadly plot; instead, she invited the king and Haman to two carefully prepared banquets, buying time for God’s perfect plan to unfold. While Esther walked in humble dependence on the Lord, Haman’s heart overflowed with pride and rage—his great honors felt meaningless as long as Mordecai the Jew still lived, leading him to build a massive gallows for his enemy. This chapter powerfully reminds us that prayer and fasting open the door to divine favor in our most dangerous moments, and that God honors those who step forward with courage and godly timing. No matter how threatening the enemy’s plans may appear, the Lord is already at work behind the scenes, quietly turning every scheme of darkness into an opportunity for deliverance and victory for His people.

Section 2 – Continued Scripture & Application to Current Times

Esther 6:1-14:  On that night the king could not sleep. And he gave orders to bring the book of memorable deeds, the chronicles, and they were read before the king. And it was found written how Mordecai had told about Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king’s eunuchs, who guarded the threshold, and who had sought to lay hands on King Ahasuerus. And the king said, “What honor or distinction has been bestowed on Mordecai for this?” The king’s young men who attended him said, “Nothing has been done for him.” And the king said, “Who is in the court?” Now Haman had just come to the outer court of the king’s palace to speak to the king about having Mordecai hanged on the gallows that he had prepared for him. And the king’s young men told the king, “Haman is there, standing in the court.” And the king said, “Let him come in.” So Haman came in, and the king said to him, “What should be done to the man whom the king delights to honor?” And Haman said to himself, “Whom would the king delight to honor more than me?” And Haman said to the king, “For the man whom the king delights to honor, let royal robes be brought, which the king has worn, and the horse that the king has ridden, and on whose head a royal crown is set. And let the robes and the horse be handed over to one of the king’s most noble officials. Let them dress the man whom the king delights to honor, and let them lead him on the horse through the square of the city, proclaiming before him: ‘Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delights to honor.’” Then the king said to Haman, “Hurry; take the robes and the horse, as you have said, and do so to Mordecai the Jew, who sits at the king’s gate. Leave out nothing that you have mentioned.” So Haman took the robes and the horse, and he dressed Mordecai and led him through the square of the city, proclaiming before him, “Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delights to honor.” Then Mordecai returned to the king’s gate. But Haman hurried to his house, mourning and with his head covered. And Haman told his wife Zeresh and all his friends everything that had happened to him. And his advisors and his wife Zeresh said to him, “If Mordecai, before whom you have begun to fall, is of the Jewish people, you will not be able to stand against him, for you will surely fall before him.” While they were yet talking with him, the king’s eunuchs arrived and hurried to bring Haman to the feast that Esther had prepared.

Analysis: Unable to sleep, the king hears the record of Mordecai’s unrewarded loyalty. At that exact moment Haman arrives to request Mordecai’s death. The king asks Haman how to honor a deserving man; Haman, thinking it is for himself, describes the highest honors possible. The king then commands Haman to carry out every detail for Mordecai the Jew. Humiliated, Haman returns home where his own family warns him of coming defeat.

Application to Current Times:

Haman’s forced honor of Mordecai shows how quickly God can reverse the plans of those who hate His people. Today, voices carrying the spirit of Amalek spread lies and hostility toward Israel, yet the same God who used a sleepless night to begin Haman’s downfall can still orchestrate sudden shifts in politics, media, and public opinion. We reject every form of antisemitism and deep-state deception while standing confidently with God’s covenant promises to Israel.

Summary: A sleepless night and an old record become tools in God’s hand. What the enemy meant for harm, the Lord turns into public honor for the faithful. Pride comes before a fall, but humility and loyalty to God are remembered and rewarded. Believers today can take great courage: no matter how strong the spirit of Haman appears, God’s timing is perfect, and He still exalts the humble while humbling the arrogant.

Section 3: Personal Application, Scripture Memory, Journaling & Prayer

Personal Application:

Prepare your heart with prayer and fasting before taking bold steps. Trust God’s timing even when situations look impossible. Guard against pride and resentment, and stand firm with Israel against rising hatred and corruption.

• Where do you need to step out in courage like Esther, trusting God for favor?

Summary: Esther 5–6 shows the beautiful tension between courageous faith and God’s hidden providence. Esther’s patient obedience opens the door of favor, while Haman’s pride sets the stage for his own humiliation. The king’s sleepless night proves that nothing is outside God’s control — He can use even ordinary discomfort to honor the faithful and begin reversing every evil plan. As the spirit of Haman still rises against Israel in our day, remember this truth: God grants favor to those who seek Him, remembers every loyal act, and turns the enemy’s weapons into instruments of blessing. Stay faithful, stay humble, and watch the Lord work “for such a time as this.”

Father, thank you that you extend favor when we approach in faith and prayer. Give us Esther’s courage and wisdom, and protect us from Haman’s pride. Humble every modern spirit of hatred against your people Israel, honor the faithful, and continue your perfect reversal of evil plans. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
