Rick’s Alone Time with God

Rick has always felt God talk to him in the inner man and was listening and obeying the Lord for years. However, Rick never expected to hear direct words or sentences from the Lord. Then Rick ordered the book,”It’s Not Meant To Be A Secret: God Wants To Speak To You” by Nathan French

Rick started reading this book each morning during his quite time with the Lord. He absorbed it slowly each day, knowing that God was speaking much of these words written to Nathan to himself as well. After several weeks, Rick was about 50% complete with the book after flying to Israel. When he was in a Tel Aviv hotel on June9 2023, he went to the Appendix and he read how Nathan taught others how to hear from God and Rick took these notes:

Steps to hear form God:

Get Quiet
Communicate with the Lord
Expect to hear (getting your pen and paper ready is faith)
Write down what the Lord says
Share (as God leads you)
Rick then got quiet, started communicating with the Lord, had his hands on his keyboard, typed “Speak to me Lord” and for the first time in his life heard the Lord speaking to him directly with sentences. You can see that first communication in another blog for 2023-2024 on June 9, 2023.

It was extremely busy on the Israel tour and Rick was very tiered each morning. He woke up early and was worried he would start to get sick if he did not go back to sleep and he heard the Lord say “Get up and get your hands on the keyboard”… Rick communicated back “I need more sleep or may get sick.. also I might wake up Gus” (my roomate)… then the Lord said to him something that he said to Nathan several times in the book: “Delayed obedience is disobedience”.. Rick jumped up, opened up his laptop, went to his electronic notepad under the title “God Journal,” turned down the brightness where the screen turned comletely off, closed his eyes and started typing what God told him. You can see that journal in the 2nd enrtry from the bottom for June 16. This was the first time Rick had ever been given a direct word for someone else.

Since Rick returned from Israel, he tries to spend alone time with God, expecting to hear from the Lord as he converses with the Lord and typing what he says, nearly every day. First Rick prays his morning prayers (thanking the Lord, putting on his armor of God, etc.), does a few scripture memory verses, prays for protection and direct commuication protected from any spirit except the Holy Spirit. Then closes his eyes with hands on the keyboard. Below are the non-confidential things (confidential items are marked out with …) he has heard from the Lord (always test the spirits on all the words):

Get Quiet [I make sure I am going to have at least 20 minutes of no distractions. Full undivided attention unlike with the above tasks where sometimes I fit it in a busy schedule and will do the Bible study in several sessions with distractions allowed to be responsive to the family, etc.]
Communicate with the Lord [I start by going to a note-taking program on my computer and with my eyes closed, and I type out my thanks to the Lord and ask Him to put me in a secret place where I can only hear from Him. Then I either ask a specific question, ask Him how he is doing or more frequently just say “Lord what do you want me to hear and your people to hear this day?”]
Expect to hear (getting your pen and paper ready is faith) [I keep my eyes closed, hands on the keyboard and listen expectantly.]
Write down what the Lord says[By this point I have my mind and my heart fully focused on Him and His word and I simply record what he is telling me. Sometimes when I hear a pause, I thank him and ask another question of Him, but most of the time it is just a clear stream of communication. What a privilege! He has told me he wants to talk to everyone in this time that will take the time to put him first.]
Share (as God leads you)[He has told me that most people will not share as it will be specific instructions for them. But certainty, ask him. He has also given me words for others, but most of the time it is for me and the ministry]
