Where the Seven Mountain Mandate Came From
The origin is more interesting than most people realize, and it is not a marketing story.
In 2000, Youth With a Mission founder Loren Cunningham told Lance Wallnau about a message he had received in 1975 — that believers should engage seven spheres of society. Cunningham’s account is that Bill Bright, founder of Campus Crusade for Christ, and the theologian Francis Schaeffer had received substantially the same message independently.
Three men, separately, arriving at the same list. That is the story Wallnau heard, and it is what set him working on the framework that became known as the seven mountain mandate.
